Sacramento Allergy Season 2012:
If you are an allergy sufferer you know that the Sacramento Allergy Season is in full force. Every Spring I suffer with you with red itchy eyes, nasal congestion, post nasal drip, and asthma. When the grass is tall and green, the trees & flowers in full bloom I want to leave the State until June when things finally calm down. Because many people are allergy sufferers in the Sacramento region I get a lot of questions about allergy relief.
I am NOT a doctor but I would like to pass along some helpful hints to lessen your suffering. These help me with my allergy symptons and hopefully they will help you too:
1). Clean up your yard. If you are allergic to grasses and pollen them cut your grass, trim your trees and shrubs, and remove those weeds;
2). Vacuum your home thoroughly using a Hep filtration vacuum. I won't spend a lot of time with this one because it is mentioned in detail on my other allergy blogs;
3). Have your mattress and pillows professionally cleaned. Dust mites and dust mite feces thrive in your mattress and pillows. With proper cleaning you can extract better than 95% of the mites and their feces;
4). Clean your carpets and upholstery. Carpeting acts like a magnet for dirt and it needs to be cleaned at least once per year;
5). Replace the return air filter in your home. These should be changed about every 90 days any ways during allergy season you should clean or replace every month;
6). Groom your indoor pets. Pets that live indoors can bring fleas and ticks with them into your home. We groom our dog, give him a flea & tick bath, and then treat him with Frontline. This has been very effective for us.
Do you have any helpful tips to share with us? Please email me back with your tips and I will make sure to share with them with everyone else.
Until Next Time,
Michael Hull
