Tile Cover?

If you have ceramic tile or porcelain tile you want to read this article. If you have tile you want it to look good for as long as possible. Now there is a way to do just that! Tile Cover is a relatively unheard of invention that came on to the scene just about (2) years ago and has worked extremely well for our clients who have porcelain tile or ceramic tile with a natural stone or matte finish. What is it you ask?

A Tile Cover is a chemical that when applied to the whole tile prevents stains and repels dirt from the surface of your tile. It also prevents foot prevents that are commonly seen after your pet, or a bare footed person, walks across the floor. When applied properly it will put an slight sheen on the floor making the entire tile surface glow. Can you say 'WOW'?  This chemical will usually last (1) year with normal wear.

Please don't confuse sealer with tile cover. If you have ceramic tile or porcelain tile you will want to seal the grout lines first before applying the cover. If your tile cleaner specialist is not speaking to about a Tile Cover then you know he is not a 'specialist'. This is a great way to extend the beauty and lustre of your floor.

A review of Kaboom Porcelain Tile & Grout Restorer:

With the Christmas Holidays here we all want to spruce up our homes for our incoming guests and family. This spruce job may include an attempt to clean your tile kitchen countertops, tile shower, or porcelain tub. One product that is being heavily marketed for these types of cleanings is Kaboom Porcelain Tile & Grout Restorer (notice the word restorer in the title). According to the tv commercials it will clean and restore your tile & grout surfaces making them like new.

This magic illixir only has two ingredients: 5-10% of the bottle you buy will consist of Urea Monohydrocloride (or acid with a pH level of 1), the second ingredient is water, approximately 90-95%. The cost of a 22 ounce bottle is approximately $5.00. That is alot of money for that much water.

I have personally tried Kaboom on my kitchen counter tops, tile shower, and tub and was very disappointed with the results. As a professional cleaner I can tell you that only alkaline cleaners (pH level greater than 8.0) break down grease, oils, and grime NOT acid. You also need to use very hot water. We typically use water temperatures over 200 degrees when cleaning kitchen countertops, tubs, and showers. Not only does it clean but sanitizes as well. When you use acid you are ETCHING the grout of your kitchen counter top. In other words, you are sanding down the grout, which is what an acid product such as Kaboom is doing to your surfaces. If you do not rinse the surface completely the acid residue from Kaboom could damage your grout lines.

In my opinion Kaboom is Kapooey.
